As I sit down to write this first entry of The Oshogi Diaries, I’m filled with a sense of gratitude and anticipation for the year ahead. New Year’s Eve was a night to remember—not without its bittersweet moments, as the world faced some tragic news—but I’ve chosen to carry forward the joy, love, and positive energy that surrounded me. There’s something about the start of a new year that feels like opening a beautifully wrapped gift: full of possibilities, waiting to be explored.
LOOKING AHEAD TO SOPHIE’S PHOTOSHOOT
One of the things I’m most excited about this month is Sophie’s upcoming swimsuit photoshoot. It’s set on an iceberg—yes, an actual iceberg—and knowing my sister, she’ll bring her signature strength and grace to the setting. I’m so proud of her. I’ll also be making a little appearance myself since I can’t resist a chance to soak in the beach life. The ocean has always been my happy place, and I even managed to get in some surfing recently. There’s something magical about catching a wave at sunset; it reminds me of how powerful and freeing life can be.
WELLNESS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL
Another project I’ve been working on is an update on the Mediterranean diet. It’s one of my favorite ways to approach wellness, but I truly believe that no single diet works for everyone. We’re all so beautifully unique, and what nourishes one person might not resonate with another. That’s why I’m focusing on how to personalize this timeless way of eating—blending its richness with the flexibility to suit individual needs and preferences. I’m excited to share it with you soon!
SARA’S YEAR OF THE LIGHT
And then there’s Sara. My brilliant, visionary sister has locked herself away in her studio, completely immersed in creating something extraordinary. She’s working on a new collection inspired by the Year of the Light, a tradition we’ve always celebrated on Oshogi Island. It’s a time to honor clarity, renewal, and the beauty of fresh beginnings, and knowing Sara, her work will capture the spirit of it perfectly. I can’t wait to see what she’s dreaming up.
So here we are, stepping into 2025. I feel energized, inspired, and ready to embrace whatever comes next. Life, for all its challenges, is such a gift. Let’s make this year one to remember.
See you soon,
Maria
